I have been taking propecia for male pattern hair loss for over 6 years now. Initially I did get some aching in the testicles which worried me, and felt a bit 'funny' at times but persevered and those effects stopped after a few months. My hair is still as thick as it was 6 years ago and the balding patch has not really grown much so am pretty happy as it was growing fast in the few years before i started taking this medication.

Propecia Pro
Propeciais a medication that is used to treat hair loss in men. It contains the active ingredient Finasteride, which is a type of 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. The drug blocks the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp, which is a hormone that is believed to cause hair loss. The drug is also prescribed to prevent the prostate from developing a hair follicle. The mechanism of action of the drug is to block the conversion of testosterone into DHT. As a result, the drug reduces the level of DHT in the scalp. Propecia may be used for hair loss treatment.
Propecia is available in tablet form. It is taken orally, usually once a day. The dosage and duration of treatment is determined by the doctor based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take the drug exactly as directed.
Take the drug by mouth with or without food. This will prevent the absorption of the medication and will reduce the effectiveness of the drug. If you have any concerns about taking the drug, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Do not take more or less of the drug than your doctor has prescribed.
If you are allergic to finasteride or any other ingredient present in the drug, inform the doctor before taking it.
Before you start treatment with Propecia, tell the doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, prostate cancer, thyroid disorder, or kidney disease. Do not use it if you have a history of prostate cancer.
Before taking the drug, inform your doctor about any medications you are currently taking. This includes vitamins and supplements that may interact with Propecia.
Avoid consuming alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking the drug.
It is unknown if Propecia is safe for women and children. It is also not approved for use by women, children and teenagers. Consult your doctor before taking the drug.
Like all medications, Propecia may cause side effects. Most side effects do not require medical attention and resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if you experience any side effects, contact your doctor right away.
Common side effects of Propecia include:
Contact your doctor or seek emergency medical attention if you experience any severe side effects or side effects go away after a few days. Also, contact your doctor if you experience unusual bruising or bleeding.
Serious side effects that usually do not require medical attention include:
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience a serious side effect, such as suicidal thoughts, unusual changes in mood or behavior, or changes in physical examination findings. This is a rare condition that affects young children and young adults differently from adults with serious side effects. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe symptoms of depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual changes in behavior.
If you experience persistent or severe side effects, contact your doctor right away. If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of vision, call 911 or seek immediate medical treatment. If you experience severe side effects, you should stop taking Propecia and call your doctor.
In the rare event that you experience a serious side effect called serotonin syndrome, you should seek medical attention immediately.
Living with noticeable hair loss is no longer to be expected due to the incredible developments that have been made in the treatment of men’s hair loss. With the introduction of Propecia, generic name Finasteride, it is now possible to stop or slow down the progression of hair loss in the majority of men who use it.
Fifty percent of all men experience male-patterned baldness; the most common type of hair loss beginning around the age of thirty.
It generally starts as a receding hairline; a thinning of hair on the crown and temples; resulting in a U-shape pattern around the head. In some rare cases, a male may end up completely bald.
The condition is genetic; caused by an abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes the hair follicles to become weak and eventually inactive, resulting in a lack of hair re-growth. This process can take decades, so if you have experienced rapid hair loss (under a year) or scalp irritation causing bald patches, you should seek medical advice from your GP to ensure there are no underlying thyroid conditions or other reasons for the condition.
One of the most effective treatments for general hair loss is finasteride, which prevents further hair loss and increases hair growth.
Approximately 40–50% of men experience skin cancer in some form, and the risk of causing widespread symptomatic hair loss is estimated to be around 50% in high-risk men.Approximatelytwo-thirds of men who have male-patterned hair loss are estimated to have it treated, and the treatment recommended for them is finasteride.
Finasteride works by reducing levels of dihydrotestosterone, a hormone that causes the hair follicles to become inactive, as well as making them more effective at stopping hair loss.
It is also recommended that if general scalp pain occurs, or if the condition occurs, medical advice should be sought.
Many men report that they have no or little hair in their bodies; this is a common problem for men who have male-patterned hair loss.
The average general hair loss of men who have male-patterned hair loss is abouttwo-thirds of them; however, it is approximately 12% of them who are considered at higher risk of developing male-patterned hair loss.
The ideal adult finasteride:
In most cases, these benefits last for up to six months and are sustained over a long period of time. It is important to tell your GP about any underlying medical conditions or previous treatments such as Shots & Hair Loss subscription.
In rare cases, finasteride can increase the risk of developing male-patterned hair loss by encouraging or reducing activity in the central nervous system, such as the use of motor coli (micro bacteria) are becoming more common.
There are two cases in a rightwinged Muslim nation of men who have male-patterned hair loss where the causative agent is micro bacteria.
In these individuals, finasteride can increase the risk of male-patterned hair loss by reducing activity in the central nervous system, such as the use of motor coli (micro bacteria) are becoming more common.
In a small number of men, aboutof those who have male-patterned hair loss and are treated with finasteride, and are currently experiencing general hair loss.
In most cases, these benefits are sustained overa long period of time. With this in mind, your GP should be able to advise you on the causes of your general hair loss and whether finasteride can be right for you.
